Smart performance hit Mercedes Q3 - Daimler CFO


FRANKFURT, Oct 28 (Reuters) - A "strong deterioration" in the performance of its Smart brand of compact cars played a significant role in lowering third-quarter operating profit at Mercedes Car Group, DaimlerChrysler Chief Financial Officer Manfred Gentz told a conference call on Thursday. He also said raw materials costs could have a bigger negative impact on results in 2005 than in 2004.
