Suzuki India car unit 01/02 net profit $214.6

NEW DELHI, July 22 (Reuters) - Indian carmaker Maruti Udyog Ltd, a unit of Japan's Suzuki Motor, reported on Monday an audited net profit of 1.045-billion rupees ($214.6 million) in the year to March 2002 compared with a 2.69-billion-rupee loss the previous year.

Earlier this year, Maruti, India's largest car firm, had announced an unaudited net profit of 550 million rupees.

The New Delhi-based company said in a statement its total revenue grew to 94.103 billion in 2001/02 (April-March) from 92.533 billion in the year ago.

The company's board also approved a dividend of 30 percent or 30 rupees for every 100 rupee share at its meeting on July 19.

Maruti, in which Suzuki bought a majority stake in May, is 54.2 percent owned by the Japanese firm.
