Audi Offers Glimpse of High-Performance PHEV

The e-tron quattro engine in the upcoming Q7 migrates to the Avant with fortified power numbers.

Audi releases images of a variant of the Prologue Avant concept car to be displayed at the upcoming Geneva Auto Show.

Unveiled in November at the Los Angeles Auto Show, the 5-door, all-wheel-drive coupe features plug-in hybrid technology that is close to series production, Audi says.

The Prologue Avant is equipped with the plug‑in hybrid drive system from the Audi Q7 e-tron quattro launching in the summer. But Audi says it achieves even higher performance, producing 455 hp and 553 lb.-ft. (750 Nm) of torque from a 3.0L turbodiesel engine and an electric motor that make it reach 62 mph (100 km/h) in 5.1 seconds. The electric-only range is 33.6 miles (54 km). Top speed is 155 mph (250 km/h).

The driver and up to three passengers can establish digital communication via two organic LED displays. The detachable OLED displays in the rear, a spin-off of the Audi tablet from the new Audi Q7, provide passengers with on-demand information and entertainment. An intelligent-software program identifies the driver and passengers based on their smartphones and adjusts the seats and climate control system according to their preferences.

The front of the dashboard integrates three touch displays, one controlling driver-assist functions, one for multimedia management and one allowing the passenger to configure entertainment features individually. Another display for text entry, air conditioning and infotainment designed for the driver is located on the console of the center tunnel.

With a length of 16.8 ft. (5,110 mm), a wheelbase of 10 ft. (3,000 mm), a width of 6.5 ft. (1,970 mm) and a height of 4.6 ft. (1,400 mm), the Audi Prologue Avant is a little larger than the Prologue 2-door coupe.
