Hyundai will unveil its refreshed i20 B-segment hatchback at the 2012 Geneva auto show Tuesday.
The updated entry, which has the same basic dimensions as its predecessor, adopts Hyundai’s fluidic styling and features a sculpted hood, hexagonal grille and newly designed headlamp package.
“The i20 has been very popular with European buyers since it came to market in 2009, thanks to its combination of efficiency, quality, practicality and value,” Allan Rushforth, senior vice president and Chief Operating Officer-Hyundai Motor Europe, says in a statement.
“With an enhanced powertrain lineup that includes some of the cleanest powertrains in its segment, and sharper styling, the new i20 will appeal to a broader range of buyers, including younger consumers.”
The i20 is available with four powertrain options, including a new 1.1L 3-cyl. U-II diesel engine that generates 75 hp. It was developed at Hyundai’s Diesel Centre of Excellence in Russelsheim, Germany.
The new i20 is 67.3 ins. (171 cm) wide and 58.6 ins. (149 cm) high. It is 2.2 ins. (5.6 cm) longer than its predecessor at 157.3 ins. (396 cm), but the wheelbase remains the same at 99.4 ins. (252 cm).
The refreshed i20 will be covered by a 5-year unlimited warranty that includes roadside assistance and vehicle checkups.
