Hyundai releases teaser photographs of its all-new i30 compact car, which will have its global debut Sept. 7 ahead of the Paris auto show.
The exterior includes a new “cascading grille” and represents an evolution of Hyundai’s current design language, “with natural flowing lines, refined surfaces and a sculpted body to create a timeless appearance,” says Peter Schreyer, president and chief design officer.
To be built at Hyundai’s plant in Nosovice, Czech Republic, the new model is the product of the automaker’s design and development center in Russelsheim, Germany, sources tell WardsAuto.
No drivetrain details have been released, but it is anticipated the car will continue to be offered with a range of three gasoline and two diesel engines.
The new i30 shares the same J4/J5 platform as the Hyundai Elantra, produced in Ulsan, South Korea, and the Kia Cee’d, produced in Zilina, Slovakia. The Kia Forte, not sold in Europe, also shares the platform.
The i30 has been marketed in the U.S. since 2013 as the Elantra GT.
The i30 was first offered in Europe in 2007, replaced by a second-generation version unveiled in 2011.
