Tenneco posts profit following restructuring


CHICAGO, Jan 26 (Reuters) - Tenneco Inc. , a maker of shock absorbers and mufflers for cars and light trucks, on Thursday posted a quarterly profit versus a year-earlier loss after cost cuts helped offset rising energy and material prices. Tenneco reported net income of $8 million, or 18 cents per share, in the fourth quarter, compared with a net loss of $19 million, or 45 cents per share, a year earlier, when it took restructuring and refinancing charges.
