The new ES 300h hybrid has a unique bamboo trim in its interior. The trim color is nice and soothing but a glossy finish gives it a fake appearance.
The ES is no wider than its predecessor, despite now riding on the larger Avalon platform. However, visual tricks, such as wider taillamps and wheels pushed out to corners, make it appear so.
The ES has three driver-selectable modes: Normal, Sport and Eco, with each having a different throttle and steering calibration.
The ES' rear seat is one of the most comfortable in the industry. It also is very spacious, boasting more legroom than in the short-wheelbase Lexus LS.
The ES 300h uses the Toyota Camry's Hybrid's powertrain: a 2.5L Atkinson-cycle 4-cyl. gas engine mated to two electric motors and a nickel-metal hydride battery.
Lexus' bread-and-butter sedan gets a makeover for '13, with a new hybrid variant, as well as a fresh, more refined look, better interior materials, and a large, comfortable rear seat.
