TOKYO, Aug 19 (Reuters) - Toyota Motor Corp , the world's largest carmaker, will buy batteries for its hybrid cars from Sanyo Electric , according to a source familiar with the matter.
It will start buying the batteries in 2011 at a rate of 10,000 a year, the source said.
Japanese electronics giant Panasonic Corp has agreed to buy a majority stake in Sanyo, the world's largest maker of rechargeable batteries.
