Toyota ups '02 global sales plan to 6.19 units

TOKYO, July 29 (Reuters) - Japan's largest automaker, Toyota Motor Corp , said on Monday that it would boost its 2002 group global sales plan to 6.19 million units, a rise of 200,000 units from the original plan.

The group figures include Toyota minivehicle unit Daihatsu Motor Co Ltd and truck unit Hino Motors Ltd , but the increase in the forecast was based entirely on a rise on Toyota brand sales overseas, the company said.

The new forecast compares with last year's group result of 5.93 million units.

The auto giant also boosted its forecast for group global production by 280,000 units to 6.28 million units, compared with last year's result of 5.85 million units.

Its group domestic production forecast was lifted to 4.15 million units, an increase of 250,000 units. It compares with domestic production of 4.05 million units in 2001.

Toyota's group export forecast was boosted to 1.85 million units, an increase of 270,000. Last year Toyota's exports totalled 1.75 million units.
