Trane 1st-quarter net profit falls


NEW YORK, April 29 (Reuters) - Trane Inc , a maker of heating and air conditioning systems that has agreed to a purchase by Ingersoll Rand Co. Ltd , reported lower quarterly net profit on Tuesday and said it expects the Ingersoll deal to close in the second quarter. Net earnings were $65.9 million, or 33 cents per share, compared with $173.3 million, or 84 cents per share, a year earlier, when results included income from discontinued operations.
