US STOCKS-Dow, S&P briefly edge up on techs, defensives

NEW YORK, Nov 26 (Reuters) - U.S. stocks briefly turned positive on Wednesday, as technology shares continued to advance and investors picked up defensive stocks.

The Dow Jones industrial average edged down 2.31 points, or 0.03 percent, at 8,477.16. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was off 0.84 points, or 0.10 percent, to 856.55. The Nasdaq Composite Index rose 20.73 points, or 1.42 percent, at 1,485.46. (Reporting by Leah Schnurr; Editing by Kenneth Barry)
