The redesigned sedan lineup, launched in second-quarter 2005 has been expanded with the addition of all-wheel-drive 325xi sedan, 325xi wagon and 330xi sedan variants. All are powered by a new 3L I-6 engine mated to 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmissions. The all-new body structure for sedans and wagons is more rigid than that of the prior models, while new double-pivot front and 5-link rear suspension systems provide better ride and handling. Other new features include adaptive brake lights that glow with increasing intensity as brake force increases, upgraded stability control and dynamic cruise control that now can apply light brake pressure to maintain the set speed. Options include active cruise control that automatically maintains a safe distance from the vehicle ahead, variable-ratio active steering on rear-drive variants and turn-lighting Xenon adaptive headlamps (standard on “330” models). A rear-window power sunshade is optional on the 325Ci and 330Ci coupes, but the Sequential Manual Gearbox has been discontinued.
