The all-new Range Rover Sport series, based on a version of the LR3 platform, is shorter, wider and lower than standard Range Rover models. For example, its wheelbase, at 108.0 ins. (2,743-mm), is 5.4 ins. (137 mm) shorter, while overall length has been cut by 6.5 ins. (165 mm) to 188 ins. (4,775 mm). Overall height has been trimmed by almost 2 ins. (51 mm). Two models are offered. The HSE comes with a revised 300-hp version of the 4.4L V-8 used in the standard Range Rover. Stability control and air-spring suspension are standard. The high-performance Supercharged edition borrows the 390-hp V-8 from Jaguar's “R” models. It comes with 20-in. wheels in place of the HSE's 19-in. rims, a unique grille, specific seat material, Brembo front brakes, adaptive headlamps and chrome exhaust tips. Land Rover's Dynamic Response system, which senses cornering forces and adjusts body lean to optimize handling, is standard.
