A redesigned grille and front bumper update the exterior, while interiors have new fabrics, a redesigned steering wheel and revised instrument panel. In addition, the Ralliart variant has stiffer front springs and sway bar for improved handling, plus aluminum pedals and new interior trim. The high-performance 2L engine in the Lancer Evolution adopts electronic variable valve timing to help increase horsepower and torque and, in conjunction with refinements to the turbocharger, improve midrange response. Other changes include restyled front bumper and grille, darker front and rear lamp lenses, body-color rear wing-spoiler supports and, on the Evolution MR, rear roof-edge windsplits that create small vortices to increase the downward pressure generated by the rear wing. In addition, all Evolution models have new, lighter, alloy wheels.
