The all-new model utilizes a body structure that is 57% stiffer than that of the model it replaces. Although the wheelbase is marginally longer, increased overall length and width provide more interior room and a larger trunk. Wider wheel tracks help improve handling. Two new engines power the lineup, starting with the direct-injection turbocharged 2L 4-cyl. that develops 200 hp in the 2.0T and 2.0T Value Edition. A larger 3.6L V-6 engine replaces the 3.2L V-6 as a running change in the 3.6L and all-wheel-drive 3.6L 4Motion variants. The 3.6L engine adopts 4-valve and variable valve timing technology to help it make 280 hp and 265 lb.-ft. (359 Nm) of torque. A new 6-speed manual gearbox is standard in combination with the 4-cyl. engine, while a 6-speed automatic transmission is standard with the V-6 and optional on the I-4. Standard features include dual-stage front airbags, plus front side-impact and front and rear side curtain airbags, and rear ducts for the climate control system.
