What’s New for ’11

  • The Sportage rides on an all-new unibody platform, which is longer, lower and wider than its predecessor, with improved handling and aerodynamics. It features 4-wheel independent suspension, with a MacPherson setup in the front and a rear multi-link configuration with new dampers and coil springs that minimize cabin intrusion.
  • It is powered by a 2.4L 4-cyl. with continuously variable valve timing, which makes it both more powerful and efficient than the 2.7L V-6 it replaces. The engine is connected to a 6-speed manual transmission in the base model and an all-new 6-speed automatic in the LX and EX. The base is available in front-wheel drive only, while the LX and EX offer available all-wheel-drive.
  • A third trim level – SX – is slated to join the lineup mid-year. It will be powered by Kia’s new, direct-injected 2.0L turbocharged 4-cyl. in both front- and all-wheel-drive variants.
  • Some standard features include USB and auxiliary audio input jacks, Sirius satellite radio with three month’s complimentary service and Bluetooth hands-free cell-phone interface. The Microsoft UVO hands-free infotainment system is slated to become available as an interim running change.
