From the back, new Forte with its red and white horizontal taillights is reminiscent of Ford Focus sedan.
The Forte's interior borrows from the larger Optima's, with a center stack slanted toward the driver. EX interior shown, which features black leather with white stitching.
The new Forte's wheelbase is 2 ins. longer than the outgoing model's and overall length is up 1 in.
EX grades of the Forte get a new 2.0L gasoline direct-injected 4-cyl. engine, making 173 hp. LX grades receive a 1.8L 4-cyl.
The Forte's back seat is roomier than before, although some growth comes at the expense of front-seat room.
Total trunk volume is down slightly from the first-gen Forte, but the opening now is 2 ins. wider.
