What’s New for ’08

  • The engine in the C70 gains horsepower, to 227 hp from 218 hp, while torque output remains unchanged, a tire-pressure monitoring system is standard, the hand brake has been redesigned and the clock has been moved to the center information screen.
  • The V70 wagon is completely new and rides on a new platform, while only one variant is offered, powered by a naturally aspirated 3.2L I-6 with variable valve timing and intake tract, mated to a standard 6-speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode.
  • According to Volvo, the V70 has the world’s first built-in, height-adjustable booster cushion for children in the rear seat, while standard safety features include a whiplash protection system, stability control, a tire-pressure monitoring system, and enhanced impact protection for pedestrians.
  • Like the V70 on which it is based, the XC70 rides on a new platform, powered by a naturally aspirated 3.2L I-6 with variable valve timing and intake tract, mated to a standard 6-speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode and all-wheel drive.
  • The exterior features new sheet metal, fascias, grille and a higher beltline than its predecessor.
  • Optional safety equipment on the V70 and XC70 includes adaptive cruise control, a blind spot monitoring system, and Volvo’s Personal Car Communicator system.
