What’s New for ’11
It is powered by a flex-fuel 6.0L V-8 with cylinder-deactivation, which is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission in a rear-wheel-drive configuration with 4-wheel independent suspension. It can accelerate from 0-60 MPH (0-97 km/h) in under 6 seconds, according to Chevrolet. Unique features include front seats designed to accommodate equipment belts and gun holsters, a flat console for computers, with the gearshift positioned forward and close to the driver, a second, trunk-mounted battery dedicated specifically to powering electronic equipment, heavy-duty alternator, oil, transmission and power steering coolers, specially calibrated stability control system, large, heavy-duty 4-wheel disc brakes and heavy-duty suspension components. A V-6 is slated to become a more fuel-efficient option in 2012.
- The Caprice Police Pursuit Vehicle - based on GM’s global rear-wheel-drive architecture, which includes the current-generation Camaro - is designed specifically for law-enforcement applications and is not available to the general public.
