What’s New for ’11

  • The Equus shares a stretched version of Hyundai’s global rear-wheel-drive platform with the Genesis, gaining over 7 ins. (17.8 cm) in length. It will initially be powered by the same powertrain; a 4.6L Tau V-8, mated to a ZF 6-speed automatic transmission. As a mid-year running change, the powertrain in the Equus will be replaced by a direct-injection 5.0L version of the Tau V-8, which will be coupled with a new, in-house 8-speed automatic.
  • Leather seats, Alcantara headliner, natural wood trim, leather-wrapped, hand-stitched instrument panel and heated and cooled front seats are standard, while a massaging driver’s seat is optional.
  • It features a nearly-ideal 52/48 front-to-rear weight distribution and an electronically controlled air suspension system with normal and sport settings, along with continuous damping control.
  • Standard safety equipment includes stability control, electronic active headrests, a total of nine airbags, lane-departure warning system, adaptive cruise control and back-up assist camera. An under-grille forward-view cornering camera, ideal for navigating tight spaces in city driving, is optional.
  • Other features include XM satellite radio, Bluetooth connectivity, high-definition radio, and a 608 watt, 13-channel, 17-speaker digital Lexicon surround-sound audio system.
