What’s New for ’11

  • The all-new sport sedan is powered by a 300-hp turbocharged 6-cyl., coupled to a standard 6-speed automatic transmission in an all-wheel-drive configuration.
  • It is available with three chassis; the standard, sport-tuned Dynamic Chassis, the Touring Chassis, which delivers a smoother ride, and the available FOUR-C active chassis, which offers three suspension settings that can be selected by the driver.
  • Volvo’s Pedestrian Detection system makes its debut on the S60, and utilizes both radar and camera-based information to warn the driver if a person is in the vehicle’s path and automatically applies full braking power at speeds up to 22 MPH (35 km/h). At higher speeds, the system still applies the brakes to reduce speeds as much as possible.
  • The City Safety system, similar to the pedestrian detection system, warns the driver and either pre-charges or fully applies the brakes to prevent rear-end collisions, or to minimize the damage. It works at speeds of up to 19 MPH (31 km/h).
  • A customizable touch-screen driver control interface is standard.
