What’s New for ’12

The Karma is powered by twin electric AC motors operating through a limited-slip differential with electrical current supplied by a Lithium-ion battery pack that can be recharged via a 120/240-volt on-board charger.

A front-mounted turbocharged 2.0L I-4 gasoline engine, supplied by General Motors, drives a 175KW generator to provide current to the drive motors when the battery pack becomes depleted after an EPA-rated range of 32 miles.

As a series hybrid, the 4-cyl. engine supplies current only through the battery pack, not directly to the drive motors, resulting in an EPA fuel economy rating of 20 mpg when in operation.

Three trim levels are offered: Eco-Standard, Eco-Sport and Eco-Chic offer unique features such as wood trim reclaimed from forest fires or lake bottoms and seat trim made of 100% post-industrial-textile suede or high-yield leather.
