What’s New for ‘13

New to the lineup is the Active3 hybrid, powered by a 3.0L twin-turbo I-6 in combination with a 55-hp electric motor with 317-volt Lithium-ion battery pack stored beneath the trunk floor.

The Active3’s I-6 employs stop-start technology to help boost fuel economy and is capable of operating the car on its own, in combination with the electric motor, or allows the motor to operate on its own.

The all-new 328i wagon is slightly larger, providing increased rear-passenger and cargo space. It is powered by an updated 2.0L I-4 twin-turbo gasoline engine.

A new Active5 hybrid is powered by a 3.0L twin-turbo I-6, with stop-start technology, in combination with a 55-hp electric motor. The car can be propelled by the I-6, the electric motor or a combination of both.

Joining the lineup is the Active7 hybrid that is powered by a 3.0L twin-turbo I-6 with stop-start technology. A 55-hp electric motor powered by a 317-volt Lithium-ion battery pack can propel the vehicle on its own or in combination with the I-6 that also can operate independently of the electric motor.

An 8-speed automatic transmission is standard.

Powertrain systems are upgraded to improve performance and fuel-efficiency.

LED headlights and Bang & Olufsen surround sound system are available.

What’s New for ’13

Rejoining the lineup after a 3-year absence, the M5 is powered by a redesigned, high-revving, twin-turbo 4.4L V-8, producing some 560 hp.

Engine power is channeled through a new standard 8-speed automatic or optional 6-speed manual transmission.

Standard features include M-specific power steering, stability control with M Dynamic mode that allows more “spirited” driving and high-performance compound brakes.

A head-up display also is standard.

The standard M Drive system allows the driver to adjust engine management, the responses of the automatic transmission shift program, as well as steering, stability control and damper control systems and information in the head-up display.

The X1 is BMW’s all-new compact CUV.

Powertrain options include a 2.0L turbocharged I-4 mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission, or a 3.0L turbocharged I-6 engine with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Standard features include automatic headlights, foglamps, automatic wipers, and automatic climate control.

The base audio system has eight speakers, HD radio, CD player, iPod/USB interface, and Bluetooth phone connectivity.
