VW says Golf production to be hit by strike

HAMBURG, June 20 (Reuters) - Europe's biggest carmaker Volkswagen said on Friday it would stop production of its Golf model at its main Wolfsburg plant next week if the strikes in eastern Germany continue.

"If the strike continues the Golf production lines will come to a halt," said a VW spokesman.

Output of the small Lupo car may also be hit, he added.

German engineering union IG Metall members are striking over the length of the working week in eastern Germany and the action has stopped production at some important auto suppliers in Brandenburg, Berlin and Saxony.
