VW, Siemens VDO in diesel injection venture -paper

FRANKFURT, Jan 22 (Reuters) - Volkswagen and the automotive unit of engineering and electronics giant Siemens plan to invest 500 million euros in a venture manufacturing diesel injection systems, a newspaper said on Wednesday.

In an unsourced report, German daily Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung said VW and Siemens VDO would set up a factory with about 600 staff in the east German town of Stollberg.

It also said the German federal state of Saxony was prepared to support the project with up to 150 million euros ($161 million) in subsidies.

No one at Volkswagen and Siemens VDO was immediately available to comment on the report.
