Wesley Clark named chairman of Virginia tech firm

WASHINGTON, April 21 (Reuters) - Retired U.S. Army Gen. Wesley Clark, who commanded NATO's 1999 campaign against Serbian forces, was named chairman of a Virginia technological firm developing an electric engine primarily for cars.

WaveCrest Laboratories, based in Dulles, Virginia, is privately held.

"You have to do something right, why not do something great like this?" Clark told Reuters after a news conference announcing the appointment.

Clark said he hoped the company could provide an environmentally responsible, affordable motor that was still commercially viable and competitive with existing traditional motor technology.

WaveCrest said its electrical propulsion system was an adaptive motor, generator and control system that maximizes torque and efficiency.
