Andreas Mindt has been confirmed as the new director of design at the Volkswagen brand effective Feb. 1. He replaces Jozef Kaban, who has been named creative art director at the German automaker.

A veteran of Volkswagen design operations, having joined the automaker in 1996 after graduating with an automotive design degree from the Pforzheim University School of Design in Germany, Mindt has been the head of Bentley's design operations since 2021.

Kaban similarly started his career at Volkswagen. He has headed Audi exterior design and Skoda design. He returned to the VW brand in 2020 as head of design.

Mindt’s successor at Bentley is Tobias Suehlmann. He joined the U.K. automaker as head of exterior design in 2021. He has also held positions at Aston Martin, Bugatti, McLaren and Volkswagen, including a stint at the latter’s Potsdam design center in Germany.
