Do some of your potential customers say they're planning to sell their cars privately instead of trading in?
One dealership provides a brochure called "Helpful Tips on Selling Your Car Privately."
In giving this brochure to prospective customers, not only does it give them guidance on selling their cars safely and effectively on their own, but also makes them aware that it is a much more involved process than they may have originally anticipated.
Often customers will read this brochure before leaving the showroom and then reconsider selling their cars themselves. They decide that in addition to the tax benefits, a trade-in would be easier. This gives the dealership the opportunity to complete the sale sooner and add another potential unit to the used-car lot.
For those who decide to sell their cars privately it is still a win because the dealership supplied them with helpful information.
