  Our man John McElroy went to three recent industry events: The Consumer Electronics Show, Detroit auto show and National Auto Dealers Assn. convention. Guess which one impressed him as the show of shows.

John Krafcik is pitching a way automakers can reduce incentive spending by billions of dollars: Don't give rebates to customers who are going to buy the vehicles in the first place.

Perhaps he's a bit biased based on where he's from, but a Detroit university marketing prof says of Super Bowl spots: "I'm surprised how well the auto ads did compared to the competition."

 It's back to the dealership for more faulty airbag recall work. A quick-fix didn't work. So now full replacements are in order. If you're keeping track, add another 2 million to the recall count.
