Last week, Focus Inc., a large direct response marketer, announced a national campaign it is calling “Save My Local Dealer.”

The purpose of the campaign (other than getting itself into the news to create sales) is to draw Congressional attention to the role car dealerships have in their local communities.

It is refreshing to see people are beginning to realize the danger that tightening floor plan financing poses to the dealership.

“Everyone is directing Washington’s attention at the auto manufacturer, but consumers don’t buy from manufacturers, they buy from their local dealerships. If local dealerships go out of business, then manufacturers have fewer places to sell inventory,” says Raul Vazquez, CEO of Focus, Inc. “Pulling a dealership’s floor plan is essentially the same thing as freezing an individual’s bank account, and if lenders continue to back out of floor plan lending, then the auto industry problems will persist,” Vazquez continues.

Focus created a website, www.SaveMyLocalDealer.org, to launch the campaign.
