Bay Ridge Ford, one of the first new Ford dealerships in the U.S. since the recession, opens in Brooklyn, NY.
The 7,500-sq.-ft. facility is on a 27,000-sq.-ft. lot in a high-traffic area off the Gowanus Expressway. The store will employ 50 staffers.
The dealership also plans to invest in the Brooklyn Army Terminal site by building a service and parts center, says Gary Flom, president & CEO of Bay Ridge Ford.
He is a 21-year veteran of auto retailing. For more than 10 years, he headed the Manhattan Automobile Co. selling Ford, Lincoln, Mercury, Mazda, Jaguar, Land Rover and Volvo vehicles.
Flom, a decorated U.S. Marine, emigrated from Russia 35 years ago. He spent most of his childhood living in Brooklyn. Veniamin Nilva, his partner in the new dealership, also has roots in Brooklyn.
“With the opening of Bay Ridge Ford, we will be able to focus on doing what we can to enhance the daily lives of our neighbors,” Flom says.
