The heavy-duty pickup market is heating up with the upcoming arrival of new '11 GMC Sierra and Chevrolet Silverado offerings.
The trucks, rolling into dealerships, face strong competition from Ford Motor Co.'s new line of '11 Super-Duty pickups.
General Motors Co. marketers say selling heavy duties is all about numbers.
“Fullsize-truck guys really want to know the data, so you put that out there and let them make the decision,” Tony Truelove, a GM marketer tells Ward's.
GM claims greater towing and payload capability than Ford, but admits there can be no true “apples-to-apples” comparison. That doesn't stop either auto maker from claiming superiority.
