Ford Motor Co. lures former vice chairman Allan Gilmour out of retirement to return as vice chairman and chief financial officer, replacing Martin Inglis, who had held the CFO position since August 2001. Inglis becomes group vice president-business strategy.

In addition, David Thursfield is named group vice president-international operations and global purchasing, effective Aug. 1. He succeeds Carlos Mazzorin, who becomes senior advisor to the office of the chairman and chief executive.

Thursfield retains his post as Ford of Europe CEO, but Martin Leach becomes president and chief operating officer of the European operations, also effective Aug. 1.
