Arora’s departure for Tata prompts Comeau’s appointment at GM Korea.

Marc J. Comeau will leave his job as vice president-sales, service and marketing for General Motors of Canada to replace Ankush Arora, who held a similar executive post with GM Korea.

Arora joined India’s Tata Motors as senior vice president-strategy on April 23, three weeks after leaving GM Korea with no disclosure made by the auto maker.

Comeau, a native of Canada, joins GM Korea Aug. 1 as vice president-sales, service and aftermarkets. He has held his present executive post and has been a director of GM Canada since 2002.

Comeau joined GM in 1983 as a product-distribution specialist in the auto maker’s Montreal, Canada, zone. In 1995, he was appointed director-strategic marketing and research for Buick in Flint, MI, before returning to Canada in 1997 as director of sales for GM Canada.

Arora is one of several former GM executives recently hired by Tata Managing Director Karl Slym, who spent the last five of his 17 years with the auto maker as head of its Indian and Chinese operations.

Before joining GM Korea in 2010, Arora had been GM India’s vice president-sales, marketing and aftersales from 2006-2010, after serving as director of sales since 2005. He is serving temporarily as vice president of Tata’s commercial and passenger-car unit following the departure of Neeraj Garg, who resigned shortly after Arora joined the Indian auto maker.

Comeau will be the second Canadian who served with GM Canada to hold a senior executive post with GM Korea. Michael Arcamone served as GM Korea’s president and CEO from 2009-2012 before suddenly leaving to join Bombardier Commercial Aircraft in Canada.

Arcamone was replaced as president and CEO by Sergio Rocha, formerly president and managing director of GM Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay.
