GM dealers tap into new communications device

Although they still can't get beamed up to the mother ship, GM's 8,500 dealers can now use two-way computer communications to get the latest sales and service information. Developed with EDS, the system -- called GM ACCESS -- allows dealers to locate vehicles, order vehicles more quickly and have the latest data on pricing, incentives and service updates. GM ACCESS is expected to cut 30% off the time
