American Honda Motor Co. Inc. will build a $100 million plant in Tallapoosa, GA, to produce automatic transmissions for its North American-built vehicles.
The plant, to be located some 40 miles (64 km) west of Atlanta, will begin production in fall 2006, with expected output of 300,000 transmissions annually. It will employ 400 workers at full capacity.
The plant is part of a larger, $270 million investment in Honda's North American powertrain operations.
