Hyundai will test five autonomous vehicles powered by hydrogen fuel cells during the run-up to the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, Korea, in February.
The automaker says the five cars, equipped with Level 4 autonomous-driving technology by Society of Automotive Engineers standards, will be tested on a 120-mile (200-km) stretch of highway from Seoul to Pyeongchang shortly before the opening of the Olympics, according to the English-language business-news website Pulse.
Level 4, or high automation, performs all operational and situational functions even if a human driver does not respond appropriately to a request to intervene.
The self-driving hydrogen-powered electric vehicles will circle Pyeongchang Olympic Stadium during the Winter Games.
Hyundai also plans to operate four hydrogen-powered electric shuttle buses from Gangneung station to Olympic Park, and one for VIP guests from Yangyang International Airport to Pyeongchang and Gangneung.
