Hyundai Motor America's Tucson cross/utility vehicle is taking sales away from the larger Santa Fe SUV.
A company vice president says the Tucson's similar size is the reason for the 28.7% drop in Santa Fe sales.
Through July, Hyundai has sold 34,853 Tucsons in the U.S. A 40,000-unit annual sales goal was expected for the CUV, but has been upped to 60,000.
