He joined the Informa Tech Automotive Group with 16 years of semiconductor industry experience, including product and design management and technical marketing. Having served a broad range of functions throughout his tenure, he possesses deep technical knowledge as well as an ability to address strategic market and business scenarios.

How long have you worked in the automotive industry? 

Automotive has been my center of gravity for about 15 years. 

How did you first get into the automotive tech industry?  

First engagement with automotive was when I was in the semiconductor industry, in silicon design, about 20 years ago. Later, when I created my consultancy company, the focus became 100% targeted on the automotive and industrial markets. From there on, I continued with IHS first and Wards Intelligence after leading the research on Automotive. 

What are some of the topic areas you focus on? 

In automotive I focus on new architecture and the impact of a much broader automotive eco-system. This actually has a massive impact on a lot of key elements, from semiconductor components and electronics, passing via software and applications, ending with the disruption along automotive value chain, which is much broader than the past. 

What have been the major developments you’ve followed for the past year?  

Novel E/E architecture, the dominant role of software, a much broader automotive market expanding beyond the vehicle chassis. 

How do you see those continuing to develop throughout 2022?  

2022 will have its contribution, a step forward, into this evolving/revolving market. Surely, after the pandemic, and some earthquakes along the supply chain, I hope that 2022 will try to set the industry back on track in few areas, taking also advantage of consequences and impact these last two years had in the semiconductor industry and path toward electrification. 

Where do you see automotive going in the next 5 years?  

The about point is the key enabler to open the market to a new mobility era: connected, sustainable and autonomous. It is an evolution that will last for the next 10 years to say the least. 

What projects have you most recently worked on? 

I shared to industry partners my view about the market, the impact of new in-vehicle architecture, the evolution the automotive value chain, beyond the car looking at different business model and profit pools. I hope I helped develop, adjust or reinforce companies´ strategy in the new mobility era. I did a lot of work at the bottom of the supply chain, where new architectures are impacting on the bill of material, total cost of ownership, operating processes and novel workflow along the supply chain. An amazingly interesting industry to work in. 

What are your consulting capabilities?  

I would prefer to defer to my customers the answer, but I have a certain confidence dealing with both highly technical details as well as high level strategy and business perspectives.
