FCV Featured Attraction at New London Auto Show
Organizers say the Riversimple RASA fuel-cell car reflects the the new event’s goal of showcasing the wide range of new cars available to the public and promoting U.K. developments in auto technology and innovation.
A hydrogen-fuel-cell-powered car, billed as the U.K.’s first road-legal engineering prototype, will be featured at the new London auto show.
Called the Riversimple RASA, the 2-seat car, developed and built in Wales, will be displayed at the show May 5-8 at Battersea Park in the London borough of Wandsworth.
Organizers of the 3-day show say the Riversimple car reflects the objectives of the new event: to showcase not only the wide range of new cars available to the public but also to promote significant developments in automotive technology and innovation initiated in the U.K.
The show at the Evolution Centre in Battersea Park will provide an important platform for the region’s motor industry, which is enjoying considerable success in terms of vehicle manufacturing, technical innovation and new-car registrations.
The event will feature a range of vehicles from city cars to high-performance supercars. Visitors will be able to road-test a car and buy one on the spot. Other demonstrations will also be staged, including important road safety initiatives designed to save lives and prevent accidents.
The show debuts as U.K. automakers enjoy a golden age of growth.
New-car sales rose 6.3% last year to 2,633,503 units with commercial-vehicle deliveries up 16.7% to 423,894, according to WardsAuto data. Exports of U.K.-built cars rose 2.7% to 1,227,881 units with CV shipments soaring 35.1% to 47,179.
