Jaguar says its C-X17 Concept, to be unveiled Sept. 9 on the eve of the Frankfurt auto show media opening, will introduce its new highly advanced, modular aluminum architecture.

Details of the platform and the design study are being withheld until the unveiling, but a picture released showing the silhouette of the concept suggests a cross/utility vehicle is in the works for the U.K. luxury brand.

The auto maker also is expected to show a coupe version of its F-Type roadster, based on its the C-X16 concept car that was unveiled at the last Frankfurt exhibition two years ago.

Jaguar doesn’t say what future numbers or how many may be spun from the X-X17’s new modular architecture, only that the concept “illustrates the diversity of vehicles that could be produced.”

The Sept. 9 unveil will be carried over the Internet at Facebook.com/Jaguar at 17:10 CET.
