Penton’s IoT Institute in Education Collaboration
Partnership to educate industry on the Internet of Things concept of connectivity.
March 29, 2016
The IoT Institute, an online community, live-events and research brand focused on the Internet of Things, is tying up with the Industrial Internet Consortium in various initiatives meant to “fill an education gap” around the concept of connecting through the Internet.
The partnership will include collaboration on the IOT Solutions World Congress awards program and co-marketing promotions and other opportunities at industry events such as Forum Industries 4.0 meets the Industrial Internet at Hannover Messe 2016 in Germany.
“We’ve launched the IoT Institute because our users are seeing a gap in information on the topic of IoT that we can deliver,” says Karen Field, executive director-content for the IoT Institute, which like WardsAuto is owned by Penton. “IIC is a strong global advocate for industrial IoT. Their objectives to educate and promote industry best practices are in perfect alignment with our goals. We believe this partnership will strengthen and amplify both IIC and our efforts. We are thrilled to join the IIC as a member.”
Established two years ago, the IIC has more than 250 members from 31 countries. It’s mission is to accelerate the development, adoption and widespread use of interconnected machines and devices. Founding member companies include AT&T, Cisco, General Electric, IBM and Intel.
“Penton’s IoT Institute is perfectly positioned in the market with its focus on Industrial IoT and Smart Cities and its mission to move the market forward with real-world case studies and a focus on empowering collaborative decision-making teams,” IIC President William Hoffman says. “Additionally, the IoT Institute’s close collaborative relationship with Penton’s industrial segments like the manufacturing market via the IndustryWeek brand, energy market via the Transmission & Distribution World and The Energy Times brands, and transportation market via brands like Aviation Week and WardsAuto all add up to a very positive partnership.”
