Automotive supplier Denso announces a $190 million investment in its Athens, TN, facility that will add four new production lines and 320 jobs.
One new production line will manufacture GDI fuel injectors, another will make low-pressure fuel pumps and two will produce high-pressure fuel pumps serving automakers across North America.
The new jobs will include production, facility operations, engineering, administration and other skilled-trade positions.
“Increasing our capacity to manufacture products closer to customers in North America will continue to power Denso’s growth in the region,” Hugh Cantrell, director-administrative services for Denso Mfg. in Athens, says in a news release.
“This investment strengthens one of our key production centers. Athens has played a major role in producing and supplying our customers with key components in fuel delivery, ignition and exhaust-gas systems.”
Denso plans to continue advancing automotive innovation and manufacturing in the U.S. In September, the supplier announced a $1 billion investment in its Maryville, TN, facility, creating 1,000 jobs focused on electrification and safety systems.
