Manufacturer claims 186-mile range for lightweight electric city car.

Electric-vehicle manufacturer Uniti announces it will launch production Dec. 7 in Landskrona, Sweden.

The company began transitioning operations to Landskrona from its current location in Ljuspunkten on Wednesday, with the move to be finalized by March 2018, Uniti says in a news release.

The Dec. 7 launch of the city car will include the crowd-funded company’s more than 1,000 investors, more than 915 car buyers who have reserved vehicles, company partners and supporters. The event will include an exhibition from many of the company’s key partners, including Siemens and KUKA Robotics.

The Uniti is a light EV made from sustainable composite materials and boasting features such as a fully electronic steering system and a full-screen head-up display, as well as a unique approach to safety and sustainability. The use of composite biomaterials and carbon fiber limits its weight to 990 lbs. (450 kg) and its claimed range is 186 miles (300 km).

Priced at €19,999 ($23,280) including battery, the first deliveries are scheduled for early 2019.

In its first year in the new facility, Uniti will expand its evaluation prototyping process and production planning in parallel. The company also will repurpose its existing light-industry location at Ljuspunkten.

Landskrona is a well-established shipping and logistics hub located 10 miles (16 km) northeast of Copenhagen, Denmark, and will deliver clean energy to the production facility, Uniti says.
