DETROIT – Kia Motors America debuts its all-new ’06 Sedona minivan here at the North American International Auto Show.

Len Hunt, chief operating officer-KMA, says the vehicle has more interior volume than competitors, the Toyota Sienna and Dodge Caravan.

It also is packed with standard safety features, and at $22,995, retains its title as the lowest-priced entrant in the minivan segment in the U.S.

Going on sale in February in long-wheelbase form, the “Sedona is packed with a $4,000 content advantage over its key competitor, Dodge Caravan,” Hunt says.

A short-wheelbase Sedona launches toward the end of the year.

Meanwhile, Kia shows the all-new Optima, which was unveiled at last year’s Frankfurt auto show. It is sold in Europe as the Magentis. (See related story: Kia Debuts New Magentis at Frankfurt)

The new ’06 ½ Optima goes on sale in the U.S. this spring.

Also new from Kia in the U.S. this year is a refreshed Sorento, Amanti, and Spectra.
