Nissan North America Inc. announces the new ’07 sedan version of its Versa hatchback will begin at $12,550. The Versa sedan went on sale today at U.S. Nissan dealers.
The base price is for a 1.8 S model with a 1.8L 4-cyl. engine making 122 hp and mated to a 6-speed manual transmission and is equivalent to the price of the hatchback in the same trim.
The Versa sedan is offered in three other configurations: the 1.8 S mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission, which is $13,350; a 1.8 SL with 6-speed manual transmission, priced at $14,550; and the high-end 1.8 SL with Nissan’s Xtronic continuously variable transmission, starting at $15,550.
Options for the Versa sedan include a sunroof package, available on the 1.8 SL and an antilock brake package, available on all trims.
“The new Versa sedan is a great choice for buyers who prefer sedan styling and a traditional trunk, while the Versa Hatchback offers the added flexibility of a rear hatch and combined cargo/passenger compartments,” Bill Bosley, vice president and general manager-Nissan Div., says in a statement.
Nissan originally had predicted a sales mix favoring the sedan, but an official recently told Ward’s it now expects the hatchback to make up the majority of Versa sales (60%).
