Shiloh Industries says it has become a leading global manufacturer of magnesium cross-car beams by completing its acquisition of Brabant Alucast Italy and Brabant Alucast Netherlands.
The addition of the two European production sites also makes Shiloh one of the world’s largest automotive magnesium suppliers, the Valley City, OH-based company says in a news release.
“The acquisition is significant both strategically and operationally, redefining our position in the industry by expanding our technology portfolio and enhancing our manufacturing capabilities,” says David Jaeger, senior vice president and managing director of Shiloh’s CastLight diecasting division. “The new operations also bring aluminum casting capabilities, closing a gap in Shiloh’s European production needs.”
The acquisition provides leading aluminum and existing magnesium casting and stamping capabilities and processes representing over €110 million ($135.5 million) in annualized sales revenue and adds 600 employees to Shiloh’s staff of more than 3,600, the company said earlier.
Shiloh says its technologies advance automobile lightweighting globally, utilizing structural aluminum body, chassis and propulsion products with multi-material capabilities such as front-end carriers, cross-car beams, suspension cradles and shock towers.
“Our growth in Europe is a result of the increasing demand for our innovative technologies and lightweighting solutions in both automotive and commercial vehicle applications,” says Ramzi Hermiz, Shiloh president and CEO.
