Dürr Group, a German mechanical and plant engineering firm, receives the biggest order in its history to build a new, high-tech paint shop at Toyota’s Georgetown, KY, plant.

In addition to the EcoReflect paint-application quality control system, Dürr will supply large paint booths and small booths/work decks, ovens and the Ecopure RL, one of the company’s most advanced exhaust-air purification systems, Dürr says in a news release.

EcoReflect is described as an innovative light tunnel for focused paint-application quality control. The light tunnel’s arched design ensures homogeneous illumination and minimal glare, allowing for continuous detection of irregularities in paint application with maximum accuracy. With its energy-efficient LED technology, EcoReflect ensures a continuous reflected image, improved luminance distribution and stable, fatigue-free visual perception, Dürr says.

The facility will be equipped with two large three-wet topcoat booths and several small booths.

The Ecopure RL exhaust-air purification system is capable of destruction efficiencies exceeding 99% along with low operating utility costs and optimal uptime. Ecopure RL is a single-rotary-valve system, which reduces future maintenance time and costs, and offers the industry’s smallest plant footprint, Dürr says.

Dürr has had a relationship with Toyota in North America for more than 20 years and received an order in 2016 for the construction of a paint shop in Tijuana, Mexico. The plant started production of the Tacoma pickup truck at the beginning of this year.

“The order in Georgetown, which was received in June, reflects the growing and solid relationship between Dürr and Toyota,” says Bruno Welsch, CEO and President of Dürr Systems.
