General Motors President Mark Reuss knows the automaker’s culture better than most. Not only has he been rising through the ranks of the company since Ronald Reagan was in the White House, but his father, Lloyd Reuss, held the same title until he left the company in the early 90s.

Reuss is the proverbial “car guy.” And he has been working closely with CEO Mary Barra since she ascended to the top job a decade ago.

Reuss has his hands all over GM’s product strategy, whether it is battery-electric vehicles, the Corvette, the Buick Envista, Chevrolet Suburban and Silverado and everything else coming out of the Detroit automaker these days and in the next five years.

Reuss sat down with WardsAuto for a chat as part of our Wards100 C-Suite series where we talk to executives at the top of automakers and suppliers.
