A Jeep Renegade commercial that serves as a cross-promotion for the upcoming movie “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” is giving the Barkleys, Subaru’s lovable family of driving dogs, a fight in the Most Engaging Auto Ads ranking, powered for WardsAuto by iSpot.tv.

Although for the second week in a row three Barkleys ads dominate the top-five chart — “Dog Tested: Puppy” at No.1, “Dog Tested: Phone Navigation” at No.3 and “Dog Tested: Windshield Wiper” at No.4, the Jeep ad plugging its Renegade “Dawn of Justice” Special Edition model debuts strongly in second place.

The Jeep spot borrows footage, production values and star power (Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne driving a Renegade) from the movie, and features actor Jeremy Irons in a voice-over.

Meanwhile, Mazda continues its strategy of putting significant budget behind ads with proven appeal. A romantic “Driving Matters” spot that first made the Most Engaging list in January re-enters the chart at No.5, boosted by 2,286 airings on national TV since its debut.
